Is there something called smart snacking ? We all know how difficult it is to make healthy food choices 24/7?  However, with a few compromises it sure is  possible to make healthy food choices….

Here’s a list of good snacks from our dentists.

Fresh fruits and raw vegetables – apples, bananas, berries, grapes, oranges, grapefruit, melons, pineapple, pears, tangerines, broccoli, celery, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes.

Grains – Wheat / whole grain bread, plain/wholegrain bagels, unsweetened creals, unbuttered popcorn, tortilla chips (baked not fried), pretzels (low-salt), whole grain pasta, plain crackers, cheese pizza.

Juice – Unsweetened fruit and vegetable juices, canned fruits in natural juices.

Milk and dairy products –  Milk – white or chocolate, Low or non-fat yogurt, low or non-fat cheeses, low or non-fat cottage cheese, cheese and crackers, string cheese, american cheese or mild cheddar.

Meat, nuts and seeds – Chicken, turkey, sliced meats, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, nuts, 100 % peanut butter – sugar free or reduced fat.
